Mini Quilt Workshop: Ribbon Star | Saturday Feb 24, 1-5pm in Brooklyn
Country comes to town! Join us for our very first Cottage Course in the Big Apple. Using the Ribbon Star pattern, we will go over all steps involved in making a quilt in this one day course. We will be cutting pieces for our pattern, piecing the quilt top together using a sewing machine, and binding the quilt by hand sewing.
All ages and skill levels are welcome, but keep in mind there are a lot of sharp things involved for tiny hands (children must be accompanied by an adult). All materials and tools will be provided, but if you have special fabric you would like to incorporate, we welcome you to bring it!
Saturday February 24, 2024 from 1-5pm at Russell Janis in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 292 Manhattan Ave 11211 led by Natalie Baxter and Blake Myers.

Natalie Baxter is an artist working primarily with fabric to create soft sculptures and quilted wall hangings that playfully push controversial social and political issues. Most recently, she has been incorporating found and discarded domestic fabric and objects in her work. Natalie received her MFA from the University of Kentucky and her BA in Studio Art from The University of the South; Sewanee. Her work has been exhibited at galleries, museums, and fairs internationally. After frequenting the Wassaic Project residency, she moved her home, studio and family to Wassaic, NY.
Blake Myers is a serial crafter from a long line of women textile lovers. Some of her earliest memories were of watching her great grandmother, Tootsie, knit on her sunporch. Her interest in quilting was reinvigorated (after first learning on a school field trip in the fourth grade) when studying the lost and forgotten intellectual legacy and contributions of women throughout history during her studies at the New School. Blake lives upstate with her partner, Dan, and two pups, Atticus and Hertzel.
